I believe that the fall of the Maya was a frenzy of paranoia connecting to drought that occurred over time within the city states of the empire. Today farmers say that day by day the produce of corn is gradually going down, there is a possibility that this situation is something that happens every 100 years or so, based on any given date for it to occur, like the floods that occur from Texas to Oklahoma every 100 years. During the Maya this centennial occurrence may have taken place causing a reign of paranoia throughout the entire empire making the people and leaders jumping to conclusions as people do when paniced, so they may have immediatlyassumed that the gods were unhappy with the people. After words this could have led to a on going frenzy of wars between the city states killing people whenever they saw someone in order to please the gods for being unworthy and deserving such a punishment. Normally this would have caused for there to be no evidence after a certain date, but there is a chance that many farmers or common day people could have gone against this idea and fled from the empire further into the valleys or hid from the people then returning to allow the culture to continue growing.
Three Evidence Notations
SACRIFICE (the people may have
begun to sacrifice common people,
as the amounts continued to go
down, but if this continued then
they may have gone to killing as
many people that they could in a
reign of panic.)

OBSIDIAN BLADES (number in
housholds grew smaller after
950-1000 CE, possibly because
of fewer population.)
